Cardboard beats Keyboard: Make scrappy games and controllers!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Come and join us for a creative session with a super low bar for entry to make quick, playful interactive experiences! We'll be making scrappy games using Scratch and pairing them with makeshift controllers made of cardboard, tinfoil and tape. Half of participants will start with making the controller, the other half will start with Scratch, after 50 minutes we’ll switch activities and then compare results!

AUDIENCE: Perfect for people who are looking for their first experience of making their own games and controllers. But it is open to anyone who wishes to participate. For newcomers it's an opportunity to experience games development in a playful, low challenge format. For games developers, it's an opportunity to explore designing custom peripherals.

REQUIREMENTS: Any children in attendance should be accompanied by an adult, no prior knowledge required, just the willingness to be creative!

BRING: Bring a laptop with at least USB-A connector (The regular rectangular ones).

For this workshop online registration is not required to attend. The spots will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis, so make sure to be at the workshop location at least 10 minutes before the starting time.
